Captain Emil Lind Ankerstjerne

Meet Halmø's Captain
Emil Lind Ankerstjerne

Halmø's captain is called Emil Lind Ankerstjerne, and he has been at the helm of the beautiful ship since 2018. For Emil, the preservation of the historic wooden ships helps to keep our proud maritime traditions alive - an important part of Danish history, which the guests have the opportunity to experience for themselves when they step on the schooner for the first time.

"It is important to me that the guests are allowed to participate actively in the experience and that they take something unique home with them. It's fantastic to see the city from the seaside, and it's hugely satisfying, after a day of sailing, fun, food and drinks, to see the guests enjoying the sunset over Copenhagen from the Oresund”.

In addition to being the skipper during the sailing season, it is also Emil who, together with the crew, ensures that the ship is prepared for the many events that it will host in the spring and summer. Here, especially Emil's time in England comes in handy, where he helped renovate the three-masted barque "Kaskelot", which is the world's largest sailing wooden ship.

BACKGROUND

Emil got a taste for sailing life back in 2011 when he excelled as a student on Skoleskibet Danmark, where he was both quartermaster and boatswain. In 2015 he graduated from Marstal Navigationsskole, and soon after he got a job as a sailor and coxswain on Lilla Dan before finally taking the helm on Halmø in 2018.
